Summer 2008.
2008 has been a blast.
TimeFiler has created a lot of buzz in the industry during the last 12 months, and has gone from strength to strength. We've added exciting new functionality to TimeFiler, including leave requests, payroll integration and usability improvements to help you make significant cost savings and process improvements while capturing employee time.
In this issue we will:
- give you a sneak preview of our 2009 product roadmap
- reveal TimeFiler's leave requests
- explore whether timesheets are income - or an overhead
- let you know how to get TimeFiler support over the holiday period
Sneak preview - what's new in 2009?
TimeFiler is being continually enhanced to retain its position as a market leader in online timesheeting.
We are currently in the process of working with a high-profile NZ payroll vendor to provide TimeFiler as a seamless add-on to their own payroll system. In this tough economic market, it is understandable organisations may resist expenditure on a new payroll system - however adding TimeFiler to an existing payroll system provides an online leave and timesheet system at a fraction of the cost of replacing their entire system. We can tell you more about this very exciting opportunity in the new year.
We also plan to enhance the manager delegation framework, as well as continual usability and performance improvements.
Simplifying the leave request process
Many of our clients are enjoying a more relaxed pace this year in the payroll office now that TimeFiler’s automated leave requests are being used by employees and managers throughout their organisation. No more paper, faxing and filing, or manual data entry into Payroll.
So how does it work?
Let’s say Sally wants to apply for two weeks off over Christmas and New Year. After logging into TimeFiler Sally can see immediately what days she is scheduled to work as well as her current leave balances that are updated from Payroll.
She creates a leave request by choosing the type of leave she wants to apply for, and specifying the start and end date of the leave period.
As public holidays fall within her leave request, TimeFiler will know not to make a leave payment on those days.
Once Sally submits her leave request, an e-mail is sent to her manager requesting that he or she logs into TimeFiler from the link supplied in the e-mail to approve or decline the leave.
At the end of the period, leave payments are generated from TimeFiler into your existing Payroll system at the press of a button. Presto!

Timesheets - income or overhead?
This month an article written by Jo Smith (TimeFiler's Marketing & Operations Manager) was published in IT Brief. We are often staggered by the number of (large) organisations that still rely on paper, or other manual timesheet systems. Do you think manual systems are cheaper than implementing the right timesheet solution?
